This weekend brings the last time to skim the pond or ollie the highest at one ski resort.
Mountain High in Wrightwood holds its Spring-aMa-Jig now through April 12. Every day, skiers and snowboarders can compete in jumping the Big Ollie or team up in a noon Tug-o-War contest.
All the activities are free and open to anyone who has purchased a Mountain High life ticket. Of course, prizes are offered to those with “standout performances.”
For the Frozen T-shirt Contest, guests have to break a T-shirt out of a block of ice and put it on. Yeah, right!
To finish out the day guests can sign up to skim across the pond of freezing cold water in the Pond Skimming event. Some make it. For those who don’t, there is a hook available to help them out.
Though it may not appear so on the map, Mountain High is San Diego's closest winter resort by more than 30 minutes.Take Interstate 15 North and exit Highway 138 West. Make a left on Highway 2 and go three miles past the town of Wrightwood.Travel time from downtown San Diego is 2 hours and 15 minutes.
