The San Diego State University football team is returning to the Big House --- this time, with a former Wolverine on its sideline.
The Aztecs completed their 2011 schedule on Tuesday, and the Sept. 24 opponent is Michigan. SDSU coach Brady Hoke was a Wolverines' defensive assistant for eight years before being hired as Ball State's head coach after the 2002 season.
The game will bring a major infusion of cash for a financially strapped athletic department. SDSU athletic director Jim Sterk said the university will receive slightly more than $1 million for the trip, the largest single-game payout in program history.
"It was an opportunity we couldn't turn down," Sterk said. "It's a good payday for us, and it's a good opponent for our team and fans. It's a win-win."
