Video: Alex Burrows and the NHL's first mic'd up slew foot

Tomas Plekanec didn't play in Montreal Canadiens' 4-2 loss at the Vancouver Canucks last night because he's serving a suspension for slew-footing Denis Grebeshkov of the Edmonton Oilers; a play some believed should have cost the Habs center "20 games for his foolish and sickening" play, rather than just two.

Another game, another Canadiens' slew foot. Last night in the second period, it was Andrei Kostitsyn taking out the legs of Vancouver's Alex Burrows and sending him crashing into the Canucks' franchise player between the pipes.

Not only is this play shown about 17 times in the following clip, but it's first presented with players mic'd up on the ice. Which makes it kind of horrific and hilarious:

There's really nothing like hearing "hey, that's a slewww foot" in super slo-mo. He sounded like Will Ferrell's after he took the tranq to the neck in "Old School."

Kostitsyn wasn't penalized, but this highlight and the fan chatter about the play will no doubt force the NHL to take a second look.

If it's any consolation for Burrows, the Habs are wiping out more spectacularly than he did.
