Padres Pitch a YouTube Sensation

Mark Worrell's delivery is so different, so unconventional that it has made him somewhat of a YouTube sensation. As of Tuesday afternoon, video footage of the Padres sidewinder's open delivery on the Internet video site had registered 1,414 page views ---- more than the norm for most pitchers with only 5 2/3 innings of major league experience, our media partner the North County Times reported.

But no matter how many hitters shake their head, no matter how often his throwing motion is described as funky or unusual, the 25-year old reliever isn't getting caught up in the attention. He knows his technique is a bit unorthodox ---- even for a sidearm pitcher ---- but he didn't drop his arm angle for style points, the paper reported.

Acquired in the December trade that sent shortstop Khalil Greene to the Cardinals, Worrell has a career 2.94 ERA in five minor-league seasons. In 281 2/3 minor league innings, he struck out 331, walked 108 and recorded 84 saves.
