Middies Win Wild Poinsettia Bowl

It wasn't an instant classic, that's for sure. After seven turnovers and three and a half hours of sloppy football the Poinsettia Bowl fittingly came down to one last mistake.

San Diego State's kicker Donny Hageman was wide right on a 34-yard field goal with 20-seconds left giving the Naval Academy a 17-16 victory.

One bright spot for the Aztecs was running back Donnel Pumphrey. He gained 112-yards to become SDSU's single-season rushing leader. His total of 1,867 yards broke the mark of 1,842 yards by George Jones back in 1995.

Before Hageman's miss, Navy took the lead on an Austin Grebe field-goal with just under 1:30 left in the game.

The Midshipmen are now 2-2 in Poinsettia Bowl games. They lost 35-14 to the Aztecs in the 2010 game.
