Everyone gets a laugh now and then when they realize that Anaheim enforcer George Parros is a graduate of Princeton University. But what if I told you that hidden in the AHL is another potential enforcer with a Princeton pedigree who seems destined for the show? I'm talking about 24-year old Kevin Westgarth, currently earning his stripes with the Manchester Monarchs, the AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. Credit Inside the Kings for doing some very interesting work on Westgarth over the past few months, including a neat little Q&A and a compilation of some of his minor league bouts.
As for me, I didn't know much about Westgarth at all before David Singer of Hockeyfights.com forwarded me the link to the above video of him efficiently disposing of Jeff Szwez of the Philadelphia Phantoms with just two punches in a bout last Friday night. Click here for his fight card.
