Carson Palmer Ruled Out for Sunday

After missing his second start of the season in the Bengals' 26-14 loss to the Jets, It's already been determined that quarterback Carson Palmer will once again be out of the lineup this Sunday when the Bengals host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

That means Ryan Fitzpatrick will make his third start of the season for Cincinnati. That sound you're currently hearing is Steelers defensive coordinator Dick Lebeau furiously coming up with thousands of different blitzes Fitzpatrick has never seen before.

Palmer spent the day having his elbow examined in New York by Dr. David Altcheck, who works with pitchers from the New York Mets.

According to Shannon Russell of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Head Coach Marvin Lewis hasn't ruled out any option regarding Palmer's status.

While Fitzpatrick starts Sunday, Lewis said nothing has been ruled out in terms of a Palmer return. "Maybe we'll have more of an update later and we'll see, but I don't think any option has been closed off at this point. Let's just see what's the best thing," Lewis said. "I'm going to talk with Carson and see where he is. He's texted me a couple times but I just want to see what his thoughts are."

By any option, I'm assuming he's talking about potentially shutting Palmer down for the season, or having him back in the lineup as soon as week eight when the Bengals travel to Houston.

As for Fitzpatrick, he's put up a respectable 60% completion percentage in his limited action, but has only thrown one touchdown to three interceptions, and is averaging a league worst 4.53 yards per pass attempt.
