Over a thousand NFL dreams will disappear this week. NFL teams must pare their rosters down from 90 to 75 by Tuesday, then whittle it to the final 53 by Saturday.
The Bolts released 11 players on Monday. On offense tight ends Ryan Otten and Jake Byrne were let go along with two receivers (Brelan Chancellor / Micah Hatfield), a pair of linemen (Nick Becton / Darryl Johnson) and a couple of running backs (Zach Boren / Kerwynn Williams). Defensively linebacker Adrian Hamilton and defensive back Lowell Rose were let go. Punter Chase Tenpenny was also released. Five more must be waived on Tuesday.
Late Monday the Chargers added defensive lineman Joe Kruger who was waived by the Eagles. The Bolts are thin on the defensive front after losing rookie lineman Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe for the season with a torn ACL suffered in the 49ers game on Sunday. Defensive tackle Kwame Gaethers also left the game with a leg injury. His status is still uncertain.
