Blanco Arrives Late to Padres Camp

San Diego Padres catcher Henry Blanco says he's ready for some catch-up training after arriving in camp today, one week after the rest of the pitchers and catchers reported.

The 12-year veteran was tending to family issues in his native Venezuela and was given permission by Padres general manager Kevin Towers for a late arrival.

His first day of action included several bullpen sessions and batting practice.

Blanco hit .292 with three homers and 12 RBIs in 58 games with the Chicago Cubs last season.
