Wyoming Defeats Aztec Men

Brandon Ewing scored 24 points and Tyson Johnson added 22 to lead Wyoming to an 83-79 win over San Diego State on Wednesday night.

Afam Muojeke finished with 13 points and Sean Ogirri had 12 points for the Cowboys (12-4, 1-1 Mountain West). Johnson led the team with 10 rebounds.

In a tight game that featured 16 ties and 17 lead changes, Wyoming led by six on three occasions in the second half but had trouble putting the Aztecs away.

Kyle Spain scored four straight points to bring the Aztecs (12-4, 2-1) to within 81-79 with 44 seconds remaining. But Wyoming ran down the shot clock and Ewing hit Johnson underneath the basket for a layup with 10 seconds left to seal the win. San Diego State had won five straight before Wednesday night's loss.

Spain and Billy White finished with 16 points apiece for the Aztecs, while Richie Williams scored 12. White grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
