World Title Fight on Saturday Night

Saturday night's alright for fighting in Oakland

The eyes of the boxing world will focus on the Oracle Arena in Oakland this weekend.

Andre Ward, who grew up in Oakland, will defend his title against contender Sakio Bika Saturday at the World Boxing Association Super Middleweight Championship at 9 p.m. The title fight will be seen live across the county on Showtime.

The two men met the media Wednesday and things stayed quite friendly.

"I thank God for the opportunity. I don't take this time in my life for granted. I take my job seriously and appreciate the compliments, but I still feel that we have a lot of work to do before it is considered anything great," Ward said.

Ward will clearly be the crowd favorite. Not only is he local, he won the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

Even his competitor sounded like a fan on Wednesday.

"I am happy Andre Ward has given us the opportunity. I am looking for the win. Training camp went very well and we will win this fight," Bika said.

Tickets are still available. Good seats will set you back $150, but they go as low as $35.
