Will the Puck Drop Here?

The minor league hockey dominoes are falling, and apparently falling in San Diego's direction.

According to NBC affiliate WAVY-TV in Portsmouth, VA the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League have been sold to its parent team, the Anaheim Ducks.

The Ducks plan to move the franchise to the west coast to be part of a new, five-team Western Division of the AHL (Minor league hockey's Triple-A). The L.A. Kings, San Jose Sharks, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames would also move their AHL east coast clubs out west.

Sources have confirmed San Diego, which is less than 100-miles from Anaheim, is in-line to land the Ducks affiliate for the 2015-16 season. An announcement to that effect could be made by the end of the month.

San Diego has a rich history of minor league hockey. The Gulls had three different stints in town starting back in 1966. The most recent version last played here in 2006.
