Stay Out of Her Wake

Who says action sports are for guys? Nineteen-year-old, Kimberly Kirch disproves that theory. Especially after taking first place at the 17th Annual WWA Wakeboard World Championships in Orlando, Florida today, August 21.

“Kim landed every trick, all eight of them today. She nailed it. She was definitely at the top of her game,” said coach, Allison Blaha.

At just 15 years-old Kirch began her wakeboarding career at Mission Bay. She took first place in the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Series soon after in 2008. Getting the taste of a win, only made Kirch want more—and that’s exactly what she got.

Kirch now volunteers for Mahfia.com and works as a wakeboard instructor at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center. She is determined to get more girls into this guy-dominated sport and judging from her consecutive championships, we wouldn’t put such an accomplishment past her.
