WATCH: Strange Emotions Expected For Final Chargers Home Game

What will the feeling be for what could be the last NFL game played at the Q?

It's going to be an interesting weekend for Chargers fans. The Chargers play the Dolphins in their final home game of the year. But the game could have a much deeper meaning than simply the end of the regular season.

Since 1967 the Chargers have played their home games at Qualcomm Stadium. But with the uncertainty about their future in San Diego it's possible that Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins will be the final time the Bolts ever take the field at The Q.

Many fans are looking at it as just another game because they don't think the team is leaving. Many fans are looking at it as a way to celebrate decades of good memories, a kind of memorial service for the team they've followed and cheered for and wept over for so long. Many fans are looking at it as one more chance to boo the Spanos family and voice their displeasure for what they view as unfair treatment of the fan base.

For the players it's a little bit different. This is their place of employment. Philip Rivers has played at Qualcomm for all 12 of his NFL seasons. It's going to be even more strange for him than it is for the fans, partially because nobody really has any idea of what's going to happen in the next few months.

Of course the NFL owners are scheduled to meet in Houston next month and a vote on the L.A. situation is expected at that time. The Chargers, Rams and Raiders are all expected to file relocation paperwork with the league on January 4th, the day after the regular season ends.
