Toreros Win Again, Improve to 5-1

USD men's basketball team beats Jackson State to stay perfect at home

USD's men's basketball team is three points away from a perfect record.

The Toreros beat up on Jackson State 76-58 on Saturday night at Jenny Craig Pavilion to run their record to 5-1. Their only setback so far was a 3-point loss at Washington to a Huskies team that started the year ranked in the Top-25.

When the Brothers Isaiah are playing well USD usually has a pretty good night. Isaiah Pineiro scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Isaiah Wright poured in 20 points to keep the Toreros undefeated at home.

Those two got to the foul line quite a bit. Pineiro hit 10 of 12 free throws while Wright made nine of 10. Jackson State as a team only went 5-for-11 from the charity stripe.

The Toreros hit the road to face Mississippi on Wednesday. Jackson State will hang out in San Diego and go to Viejas Arena to play the Aztecs on Tuesday night.
