The San Diego Fleet Have Arrived

San Diego's newest professional football team, the Fleet, of the Alliance of the American Football, unveiled its logo, team name and colors/

San Diego's new professional football team now has a name, logo and colors.

The San Diego Fleet logo is a battleship sailing on dark blue water with a yellow background.  The teams colors are Battleship Gray, Yellow and Silver Gray.

Fleet Team President Jeff Garner tells NBC 7, the team reached this decision after months of surveys.

" Ultimately we settled on something that is a tribute to the navy and the part of San Diego that navy stands for, so we wanted to make sure we did some navy inspired logo, and the yellow in logo is for the sun, which people in San Diego also enjoy."

Fleet team representatives were all around San Diego on Tuesday making appearances at television and radio stations, before hitting the different parts of town to pass out shirts, hats and flyers.

"We're trying to get the word out about the Fleet, make sure people know who we are and where we're playing."

Fleet coaches and players will arrived in San Diego in January, games will start in February a week after the Super Bowl. Each team in the Alliance of American Football, AAF, will play a 10 game schedule with 5 home games.

The San Diego Fleet will play at SDCCU Stadium.

As for what type of players will be on the Fleet, Garners says.

"I think, if the NFL has the top 1 percent of  football players, then we'll have the top 2 to 3 percent of players that are really ready to take field for the Fleet of San Diego and the league in general."
