Spangenberg Delivers in Debut

Cory Spangenberg did it with his glove and bat in the Padres 3-1 win over the visiting Diamondbacks. He made two fine defensive plays and drove in two runs in his first major league game.

Friars starter Tyson Ross delivered another fine performance on the mound. He went six innings, allowing just one run on six hits.

Up 1-0 in the fifth Spangenberg singled to left scoring a pair. That 3-0 lead was more than enough for Ross, who pitched his 14th quality start in a row.

Game two of the four game series is Tuesday night at Petco Park.
