Soaring San Diego's Skies

Torrey Pines Gliderport's 12th Flight Fest to be held May 19-24

They are a familiar sight on the shoreline of La Jolla. For decades, gliders have been a part of San Diego's history. Even Anne and Charles Lindbergh learned to fly gliders in San Diego in 1930.

You don't have to be daring to enjoy it. This week, you can check out the races during the Torrey Pines Gliderport's 12th Flight Fest.

The annual event, which includes paragliding and hang gliding races, acro and tandem events, and a Try-n-Fly Expo starts Tuesday and runs through May 24.
