So Much for the Winning Streak

Mets 7, Padres 2

The Padres were surprisingly good in the first 8 games of the season. Number 9 was not as fine.

A 7-2 loss at the hands of the Mets, snapped the Padres five-game winning streak Wednesday.

The Padres threw the ball all over the place in the seventh inning ---- except over the plate. Three walks, a wild pitch, a passed ball and an ugly error helped New York score four runs on one hit, a bunt single by Luis Castillo.

Luke Gregerson opened the inning by throwing 10 straight balls before he was lifted for Edward Mujica who threw a wild pitch to bring home a run.

That's when it just started to get bad.

Two batters later, Nick Hundley let one get by him. Luis Castillo scored from 3rd, then Hundley threw it away. Jose Reyes was on first, he never stopped running! Adrian Gonzalez tried to get him, but his throw got away. The Mets scored 4 runs in the inning -- on one hit!

But, let's end with a positive. In the 9th inning, A-Gone hit his 100th career home run, congrats to him. The Padres still lost 7-2.
Jake Peavy goes in the series finale Thursday.
