Snowmobiler Levi LaVallee Hospitalized

Snowmobiler Levi LaVallee is hospitalized with injuries suffered while practicing for a record-attempt scheduled for New Year’s Eve in San Diego.

LaVallee, a seven-time Winter X Games Medalist and champion snowcross racer, was scheduled to attempt to jump a snowmobile farther than ever before - more than the current record of 301 feet - at Embarcadero Marine Park as part of an ESPN New Year's Eve live event.

According to a statement from LaVallee's sponsor Red Bull, he was injured while practicing the jump  and taken to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

"We will release more information as it becomes available," wrote Scott Houston, Red Bull spokesperson. "Our thoughts are with Levi and his family during his time."

The free event in San Diego is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. New Year's Eve.
