Seau Elected To Pro Football Hall Of Fame

It was merely a formality. But it still sends chills down the spine to hear it become reality.

On Saturday night at the NFL Honors  event in downtown Phoenix, AZ, Junior Seau officially became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

"Junior is one of the greatest players in the history of the game, regardless of position," said ESPN football expert and long time San Diego resident Jim Trotter, who is one of the HOF voters.

During the red carpet event before the Honors event, men who played with and against Junior raved about Seau, hoping to see him elected to the Hall in his first year of eligibility.

"Junior Seau. What more needs to be said?" Those were the words of 3-time Pro Bowler LaVar Arrington, a friend of Seau's. "Some players, their names are all you need to say. Walter Payton. Jerry Rice. Junior Seau. What more needs to be said?"

Many fans consider Seau the greatest Charger of all time. The man most of those people would put second on the list doesn't have a problem with that.

"Junior is San Diego's favorite son," said former running back LaDainian Tomlinson. "I think it's a perfect way to cement his legacy of what he meant to the Chargers organization, to the community of San Diego, and all his team mates that played with him."

Pro Football Hall of Fame Weekend is set for August 7-9, 2015 in Canton, OH.

Something tells me it's going to be a powder blue and gold weekend in the Midwest.
