Parade, Pep Rally Kicks Off SDSU Homecoming Weekend

Honorary Grand Marshal for the homecoming parade? None other than “The Show”

A parade and pep rally will kick off a number of Homecoming Weekend activities for San Diego State University students and alumni Thursday.

This year’s honorary grand marshal for the homecoming parade is none other than “The Show.”

The students who make up the rowdy and hilarious cheering section at Aztecs athletic events will be honored in the parade along Campanile Walkway beginning with a pep rally at noon.

After the sun sets, students and alums will begin an all-night vigil at the school’s war memorial to end at 9:30 a.m. Friday with a wreath-laying event according to the school’s communications staff.

Later Friday, Madness on the Mesa takes place inside Viejas Arena beginning at 9 p.m. with the first “official practice” for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Coaches Steve Fisher and Beth Burns will bring their players out to spend the night with students and alum. Watch video here
