McCourt Agrees to Sell Dodgers

The sale could amount to more than $1 billion

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and Major League Baseball agreed Tuesday to seek approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for an auction of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Along with the team, the Times reported that the sale is expected to include Dodger Stadium and surrounding parking lots. The included assets could lead to a sale of more than $1 billion.

Tension between McCourt and MLB peaked when Commissioner Bud Selig appointed a monitor to oversee the team’s financial operations earlier in the year.

The Dodgers later filed for bankruptcy in June.
