The Padres got to Darvish (9-4) in the second inning. Padres starting pitcher Anthony Bass helped his own cause with a two out, 2-RBI single.
Bass allowed one run and three hits in five innings of work. He left the game with inflammation in his right shoulder and a 2-1 lead.
Trailing 2-1 the Rangers scored twice in the top of the sixth. Reliever Dale Thayer (0-2) took the loss.
At 24-46 the Padres have the worst record in the majors. Texas leads the big leagues with 43 wins. The Padres begin a three game series at PETCO on Friday against the Mariners.
