Q&A with Raiders O.C. Al Saunders

Al Saunders' name is seemingly always linked to the Raiders whenever the head coaching job opens up. And since the team returned to Oakland in 1995, that makes for nine times Saunders has been rumored to be in the running for Al Davis' affections, give or take one or two.

Yet when the topic of Saunders and his legendary 700-page playbook came up this offseason, it was to join Hue Jackson's staff, as offensive coordinator. Make no mistake, though, Jackson will remain the playcaller.

Saunders, then, brings more than 40 years of coaching experience and renowned Bay Area football lineage to the table. He has coached in college at USC, Missouri, Utah State, Cal and Tennessee, and in the NFL at San Diego, Kansas City, St. Louis, Washington and Baltimore.
