Play-by-Play Announcer Makes Bizarre Call in Padres, Rangers Game

Dave Barnett said the go-head run was on fifth and then mentioned a botched robbery

A baseball play-by-play announcer blames migraines for a bizarre call on live television during a San Diego Padres game with the Texas Rangers.

Dave Barnett was describing the action during the bottom of the 8th inning Monday night when he  said the go-ahead run was on fifth and then rambled on about a botched robbery and a henchman. Listen to call here

The Rangers said Barnett will undergo an evaluation over the next few days.

The Rangers defeated the Padres, 7-3 at Petco Park Tuesday night. Texas will go for a sweep of the three-game series at 3:35 p.m. PT on Wednesday.

In February 2011, a Los Angeles television correspondent struggled with words during a live broadcast. Some feared she may have suffered a stroke.

Serene Branson was speaking incoherently until the television station cut her off. She was later told she may have been suffering from migraine-related symptoms.

Barnett has been in his role as the play-by-play man since 2011.
