Padres Win Fourth Straight

The Padres scratched out a couple of runs against Reds starter Mat Latos then scored twice in the eighth to beat the Reds 4-2.

Both Latos and Padres starter Edinson Volquez pitched well over six innings, yet neither were involved in the decision. Will Venable had a three hit night. His sixth inning double off Latos tied the game at two. Jesus Guzman, who had led off the inning with an infield single scored from first. It stayed tied until the 8th inning. Nick Hundley drove in the go ahead runs with the double to left scoring Venable and Jedd Gyorko. Dale Thayer got the win in relief, his first of the year. Huston Street pitched the 9th to record his 20th save of the year.

The Padres go for the series sweep tomorrow afternoon at Petco Park. Eric Stults goes up against     Homer Bailey.
