Padres Streak Snapped at Seven

The Padres hit three home runs at AT&T Park but it wasn't enough to extend their season long winning streak to eight games.

Special Section: San Diego Padres

Nick Hundley and Logan Forsythe homered in the sixth off of Giants starter Matt Cain. Trailing by a run in the eighth Jesus Guzman hit a two-run shot off of reliever Jeremy Affeldt to give the Padres a 4-3 lead. It didn't last long. The Giants responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth off of reliever Dale Thayer, who took the loss.

San Francisco held on to win it 5-4 and leapfrog the Padres back into a tie for second in the NL West with Colorado, who lost in Toronto. The three game series concludes Wednesday afternoon. The Padres are back in San Diego to begin a four game series with the Dodgers on Thursday.
