Friars Notch Necessary Win against Giants

The losing streak is over! The Padres notched a necessary victory 6-2 against the San Francisco Giants Friday night from AT&T Park. Clayton Richard got the nod for the Friars and had a solid outing on the mound. The lefty worked six innings and allowed three hits with two earned runs. He finished the night with four strikeouts.

In the second inning outfielder Manuel Margot added some run support. The Dominican-born player hit an RBI double to deep left field that plated Cory Spangenberg and tied the game 1-1. Margot finished 2 for 3 with two RBI.

The Padres went into the ninth inning with a 3-2 lead. Eric Hosmer added some insurance with a two-run RBI single to left field and added to San Diego’s lead.

The Padres play the third game of the set against the Giants on Saturday June 23 at 1:05 p.m. PST at AT&T Park.
