Padres Rout Diamondbacks

The Padres (74-84) beat the Diamondbacks (80-78) 12-2 at Petco Park Wednesday night thanks to a power surge.

Tommy Medica blasted his third homerun of the season and rookie secondbaseman Jedd Gyorko smacked his 21st but it was Chris Robinson's shot that got the biggest reception.

Robinson, a 29 year old career minor leaguer got his first major league hit in the 8th inning pinch-hitting for Dale Thayer when he knocked a 3-run shot into the left field stands.  Robinson is the third Padre this year whose first major league hit was a homerun.  Jaff Decker and Tommy Medica also went long for their first hits in the majors this season.

Padres close out Petco Park play tomorrow at 3:40 p.m. PT.
