Padres Blank Mariners

The Padres shutout the Mariners in Seattle for their second win in a row.

After beating the Mariners 1-0 at SAFECO Field the Padres are guaranteed of winning their first road series of 2012. Alonzo's second home run of the season was the difference. His solo shot in the seventh off of Mariners starter Hector Noesi (2-7) made it 1-0.

Padres starter Jason Marquis (1-1) pitched into the sixth inning to get the win. Reliever Joe Thatcher got out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh by striking out Dustin Ackley.

In the eighth it was Luke Gregerson's turn to thwart a rally. With runners on the corners Gregerson fanned John Jaso to end yet another threat.

Huston Street pitched the ninth for his seventh save of the season. The Padres go for the series sweep Thursday night.
