Padres Back to Losing Ways

The Padres winning streak didn't last long. A night after snapping their 10-game losing streak it was back to losing for the Friars.

Starter Andrew Cashner lasted just five innings. He gave up two earned runs and eight hits and suffered his fifth loss of the season.

The Rockies had runners in scoring position in each of the first eight innings of the game. They led 4-0 before the Padres scored on a two-run homer by Carlos Quentin in the sixth, his 11th of the season.

The Padres pushed across another run in the ninth to cut the Colorado lead to one, but Quentin fouled out with a runner on to end the game. The Rockies won 5-4 to take two of three from the Padres.

The Friars open a four game series with their NL West cellar mates, the Giants, Thursday night at Petco Park.
