Canadian MacLennan Wins Gold in Women's Trampoline

Canada came in first for the gold in women's trampoline Saturday, with China winning the bronze and silver.

Canadian trampolinist Rosannagh MacLennan captured the women's Olympic title on Saturday, securing the gold medal after a late miscue by defending Olympic champion He Wenna of China.

The 23-year-old MacLennan posted a score of 57.305, good enough to edge silver medalist Huang Shanshan of China and more than a point ahead of Wenna.

Wenna easily topped qualifying but stumbled during warm-ups before the finals. She recovered and was about to finish off a clean routine when she slipped after trying to land her last trick.

Karen Cockburn of Canada just missed out in her bid to secure a fourth Olympic medal, finishing fourth.

Savannah Vinsant became the first American to advance to the Olympic finals since the sport was introduced at the 2000 Games in Sydney. The 19-year-old Vinsant, the youngest competitor in the 16-woman field, came in sixth.
