Padres Like Golf, Too

The Padres teamed up with the Century Club of San Diego to become a regional sponsor for next week's Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines

The Padres' new relationship with the club is centered on the military initiatives at the event, including the pro-am, and the Military Appreciation Pavilion, which is one of the open's highlights that's' located on the 14th hole overlooking the green and the ocean.

Farmers recently announced that they were signing on as a major sponsor for the tournament.

Proceeds from Padres' merchandise sold at the tournament will be donated to the Fisher House, located at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.

"We are supporting the event in recognition of our appreciation of the U.S. military," said Padres president Tom Garfinkel.

Active-duty military personnel and their families will be given free admission to the open.

In addition, the Padres will also be offering military personnel 50 percent off regular ticket prices at all Sunday games this season.
