Earvin Magic Johnson received a great deal of publicity on Wednesday afternoon after tweeting the following: "The reason I haven’t tweeted in 2 days is because I’ve been mourning Phil Jackson not being hired as the Lakers head coach."
Magic’s next tweet read, "My mother always taught me that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all."
With those two tweets, the Lakers icon shared his position on the team's decision to pass over Phil Jackson in favor of Mike D’Antoni. Then, the Magic man moved on from Phil.
It seemed the two days of mourning were over, and Magic just wanted to let everyone know that he had nothing more to say about the coaching decision. Magic did not endorse Mike D’Antoni, he did not bad mouth the management, and he did not single out anyone in particular.
Lakers fans can learn a great deal from the actions of Magic. It is time to move on.
Prior to taking the Twitter hiatus, Magic sent out a couple tweets to clarify that he had nothing to do with the firing of Mike Brown and that he was no longer involved with the Lakers to any extent.
Also, Magic Johnson tweeted something rather interesting:

"The last time I spoke to Dr. Buss, was 3 months ago & we were merely reminiscing about the Showtime @Lakers days."
At the time, this tweet meant little. However, over the past couple of days, the Lakers organization has insisted that Dr. Jerry Buss, not Jim Buss, was the strongest voice in making the decision to hire Mike D’Antoni.
If Dr. Buss was still reminiscing on the greatness of "Showtime" only three months ago, it should be no surprise that the Lakers shied away from Phil Jackson’s triangle offense in favor of the run and gun up-tempo style of Mike D’Antoni.
Considering the excitement and success of the "Showtime" Lakers, can anyone really blame Dr. Buss for trying to replicate his fondest memories as owner of the Lakers?
