Local Pros Help Junior Golf

Charley Hoffman Pro-Am is a big success

It was a day for practice at Torrey Pines and fundraising at Del Mar Country Club.  Just hours after losing in a playoff at the FBR Open in Scottsdale, Charley Hoffman came home to host his Pro-Am that benefits the San Diego Junior Golf Association.

"I wouldn't be where I am without it.  Just the lessons you learn, the friends you make.....it's unbelievable," said Hoffman. Friends like Phil Mickelson, Pat Perez, and John Mallinger to name a few. They're all proud alums of the Junior Golf program.

"I played  San Diego Junior Golf since I was five, all the way until I was 17," said Perez. "I probably couldn't have done it without this program."

"It's a great way to meet people, learn the skills and etiquette of the game. Whether you play golf for a living, or for the rest of your life. It builds relationships," according to Mickelson.

"All of us coming back today, it's a good deal. Charley puts on a great event," said Mallinger. "You can tell there are some pretty good players here that came out of San Diego. We've got a pretty good lineup."

A lineup that had fun giving back to a program they obviously believe in.
