Park View to Fulfill Big Dream at White House

The boys of summer from Chula Vista finally have a date with President Barack Obama

Chula Vista's boys of summer are finally going to fulfill a dream they have been anticipating for months.

The Park View All-Stars won the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Penn. in August, 2009.

They had been hoping to get a formal invitation to meet with President Barack Obama ever since Vice President Joe Biden told the players during the series that they would hear from the White House.

In November, they finally got the call from the Obama administration.

Friday, they finally got a solid date.

Bob Filner, D-Chula Vista reportedly said the Chula Vista players are scheduled to go to the White House on Feb. 5.

In the past, some teams have not been able to travel to Washington because of financial hardships, according to Little League officials, but that won't be the case for Park View.

According to a Southwest spokeswoman, the team and their families will be provided with free airfare and hotel accommodations -- even their meals will be paid for, thanks to AT&T.
