Sure, the Chargers might trade their popular running back, but Palomar Pomerado Health has more confidence him as a spokesman, according to a published report.
Whether star running back LaDainian Tomlinson stays a Bolt or leaves for a greener back field, officials with North County's public hospital district said they will continue his endorsement deal, which ends in 2012, the paper reported. PPH trustees told the paper that they expect Tomlinson will remain an excellent role model and local spokesman regardless of his status with the team.
"He is a great young man, and he will still have enormous appeal to people," Trustee Ted Kleiter told the paper.
The Chargers star is reported to have helped the district to raise more than $600,000 at a gala last summer in La Jolla, with similar results expected at another event scheduled for June. The hospital district includes Palomar Medical Center, Pomerado Hospital and several smaller facilities.
Chargers general manager A.J. Smith said this week that Tomlinson could be traded, released or asked to take a pay cut, according to the Times, which reported that Tomlinson could end up as a Raider or a Bronco.
