Katie Zaferes is relatively new to the sport, but she is already considered one of USA Triathlon’s rising stars. She is a USA Triathlon National Team member and has excelled in most of her competitions this year. She won her first International Triathlon Union championship at the World Triathlon Series in Hamburg this summer, and finished in the top 10 in many of her other recent international races. She was the 2013 USA Triathlon Elite Rookie of the Year, after winning two World Cup championships that year.
Zaferes was born in Baltimore and lives in Hampstead, Maryland.
