Kansas City, Here We Come

The Chargers' Ron Rivera experiment gets its first test Sunday.

Well, actually that's not entirely accurate -- calling the Chiefs' offense a "test" is akin to calling the Detroit Lions an "NFL franchise."

Kansas City is down to its third-string quarterback, some tomato can named Tyler Thigpen who only completes half of his passes (and not always to guys on his own team), and its third-string running back, rookie Jamaal Charles, who has 47 career NFL carries. Plus, the offensive line is less stout than Guinness.

Of course, Chargers QB Philip Rivers will tell you that even though the Bolts are two-touchdown favorites and better in every phase of the game, the Chargers still have to go out and make plays. They had better --if this team muddles through another uninspired performance, even if it does somehow win, changing defensive coordinators will be the least of their worries.

Meanwhile, the final injury report for Sunday's game is out. The news is not good for Kansas City. The Chiefs list seven players as questionable, six of them on defense.

A pair of safeties, two cornerbacks (that's almost the entire secondary), a linebacker and a defensive end are all hurting. That's not good when you're playing the highest-scoring offense in the AFC.

The Chargers, coming off a bye, expect everyone to play.
