Hundreds of people have joined the search for Lance Armstrong's stolen custom Trek Livestrong 1274.
The bike was taken sometime after Armstrong used it during Saturday's time-trial ahead of the first stage of the Tour of California.
More than 900 people have enlisted in the search through the Facebook group "1 Million Citizens Looking for Lance Armstrong's Stolen Bike" set up by Rob Quigley of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's communications office.
A Craigslist poster offered a reward for the culprit's pinky finger. The editor of Cycling News calls the theft of the custom bike worth $10,000 "the biggest bike theft ever, anywhere."
Sacramento Police Sgt. Norm Leong on Tuesday denied an Internet report that said the theft was caught on tape.
The Amgen Tour is one of the most prestigious bike races in the world and it will bring more than 40,000 spectators to the heart of downtown Escondido next weekend.
The corner of Broadway and Grand Avenue will be the finish line for the nine-day race, conducted in eight stages across the state.
The final stage will begin in Rancho Bernardo and pass through Valley Center, go up and down Palomar Mountain and conclude in Escondido between 3 and 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22.
