Headley Hammers Pirates

Chase Headley's walk-off homer in the bottom of the 10th sinks Bucs.

Garrett Jones almost beat the Padres by himself. Jones hit a solo home run in the sixth inning off Padres starter Jason Marqis to tie the game at two, but he wasn't done.

With the Padres hanging on to a two run lead in the top of the ninth Jones did it again. This time a two-run homer to tie the game at five. Thayer's ninth inning blown save was the first for the Padres this season.

Luckily for the Padres it didn't come back to haunt them. After nearly winning the game in the bottom of the ninth with a Carlos Quentin shot that was caught at the wall, Chase Headley came through an inning later.

Headley's blast was a no-doubter off reliever Daniel McCutchen. It was his career high 21st home run of the year.

The Padres won it 7-5 in ten innings. They go for the series sweep of Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
