Friday Night Lights: It's Playoff Time

Now the real season begins.  The first round of the high school football playoffs get under way Friday night, and there are some good games taking place.

In Division 1, Torrey Pines will meet a stout Carlsbad team. The Lancers have some quality wins this season, so look for them to knock off the Falcons with ease.

Otay Ranch and Vista should be pretty evenly matched.  Otay Ranch comes into the game having lost three straight, while Vista has won three in a row.

El Camino will be no match for Mission Hills' size and strength, and look for Damian Williams of Mira Mesa to run all over the Fallbrook defense.

Division 2 features some more even matchups.  Mount Carmel faces a Lincoln team that has dropped five straight.  Keep a close eye on this one, as the Sun Devils results have accurately predicted every Chargers contest thus far.

Westview Quarterback Tommy Hansen should have no problem picking apart the Hoover defense.  Look for him to rely heavily on wideout Stephen Sousa. Those two have hooked up for 14 scores this year, good for second in the county.

Grossmont and Bonita Vista should be tight.  The Barons come into the contest having lost four of five.

A tough Patrick Henry squad gets West Hills and should have no problem recreating their 24-12 regular-season win over the  Wolfpack.

In Division 3, the game to watch is the Who Gets to Get Pummeled By Cathedral Next Week Bowl?  The winner of the Point Loma and Castle Park game gets the not-so-awesome task of facing the top-ranked and undefeated Cathedral Catholic Dons.
