In 2001, Devin McEwan made the U.S. national team in C2 with his father, two-time Olympian Jamie McEwan. Ten years later, young McEwan won bronze at the 2011 U.S. National Championships. He has averaged a top 20 finish on the world competition stage since 2013. Recently, McEwan and teammate Casey Eichfeld won gold in the C2 at the Pan American Games and finished first at the 2016 U.S. Olympic Slalom Trials in both stops. McEwan awaits approval from the International Canoe Federation for the U.S. allocation of the C2 boat to compete in Rio. If confirmed, the Salisbury, CT native will represent Team USA in his first Olympic Games competing in the men’s C2.
