Denis Kudla began playing tennis at 7 years old. He is primarily a singles player who will compete in the category at the Rio 2016 Games, his first Olympics.
Kudla's best result at a Grand Slam tournament was advancing to the fourth round of Wimbledon's men's singles competition in 2015.
Kudla, of Arlington, Virginia, has stayed close to home to play professionally for the Washington Kastles. He made his Kastles debut last season -- when the team won its sixth World TeamTennis (WTT) title -- and served as a substitute in 2016.
In his free time, Kudla enjoys visiting the beach and being with friends. He is a huge sports fan who cites Roger Federer as an idol. His coach is Billy Heiser.
