Dear Chargers: Please Don't Fail Us

As fans get ready for tonight's preseason game, the hopes of a new season are real. Will the team come through?

The San Diego Chargers take on the San Francisco 49ers in their final preseason game at Qualcomm. The game starts at 7 p.m. but tailgating will start well before. This is the time of year everyone is thinking "good thoughts" about their heroes in blue and gold.

"I say it every year....but here goes again and for some reason, I REALLY think this is our year," Eaton S. posted on Yelp. "We are going to win it all. The sun, moon, stars, quasars have aligned. I hope so. Then I can die a happy man."

"We have a healthy team this year with a lot of guys having things to prove," posted Johnny M."This is the boltz year."

Coaches will use Friday's game to make key decisions on players who aren't considered "locks." The starters will be out by the second quarter, leaving the rest of Friday's contest to players fighting for roster spot. The North County Times lists the players who are on the bubble.

"We have a talented group with some good young players," Chargers coach Norv Turner said. "We have some tough deals, and unfortunately there are going to be some good football players that we don't keep."

For those heading to tonight's game, plan to arrive three to four hours before game time for "prime tailgating locations" according to locals who know.
