Chargers' Verrett On the Mend

Rookie CB talks about his shoulder surgery and what it means to be tough

When the Chargers selected cornerback Jason Verrett in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, we kept hearing about how tough he was.

Verrett proved that in spades in his rookie season. The rookie was one of the team's best defensive players when he was on the field. The problem was, he was only on the field for six games.

Verrett tore his rotator cuff and his labrum (in three places) in a win against the Raiders, but stayed in the game to make a game-ending interception.

He even tried to play a couple weeks later in Denver, but the injury, which would have put a mere mortal on the sidelines immediately, required season-ending surgery.

I sat down with Verrett to get an update on his rehabilitation progress and find out where his pain tolerance came from.
