Chargers Sign 5 of 8 2016 Draft Picks

First Round Pick Joey Bosa Remains Unsigned

The 2016 rookies reported to Chargers Park Monday morning for a round of meetings and workouts. As of right now 24 rookies have signed, leaving three who have yet to come to terms on a deal.

The Bolts announced the signings of five 2016 Draft picks: linebacker Joshua Perry, linebacker Jatavis Brown, punter Drew Kaser, fullback Derek Watt and guard Donavon Clark. Add them to the 19 undrafted rookies they signed on the weekend of the NFL Draft and the only players who have yet to sign are the top three selections.

Defensive end Joey Bosa, who was the Chargers’ first round selection, as well as tight end Hunter Henry (second round) and center Max Tuerk (third round) who were selected in the second and third rounds remain unsigned but that is not a surprise.

Contracts for players taken in the higher-value rounds usually take longer to work through. Rookie minicamp begins this Friday and all draft picks, even the ones who are unsigned, are scheduled to attend.

Monday, the Chargers also officially announced they have agreed to a two-year contract with former Chicago Bears center-guard Matt Slauson, a move NBC7.com first told you about on Saturday.
