Long snapper David Binn, who set a team record on Monday when he played his 179th consecutive game, has been placed on injured reserve. The Chargers said the center injured his hamstring and would be out for the season.

Binn, who has played in 256 of the last 257 regular-season games and every one of the dozen playoff games since he joined the roster as a rookie in 2004, has been on the field for more games as a Charger than any other player.

Replacing Binn on the roster is longtime Jets center James Dearth, who played against the Bolts when they lost to New York in the divisional playoff game on Jan. 17.

Fans with little football knowledge may even know Binn, who in the 2007 dated actress and Playboy centerfold Pam Anderson.
