Charger's Player Signs Sweet Deal

Chargers running back star Darren Sproles, now the Chargers’ designated franchise player, has signed the team’s one-year contract tender and will earn more than six-million dollars this season.

Sproles had been scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent before the Chargers tagged him as their franchise player. Sproles can also take part in this weekend's mini-camp. It also means that if another team were to sign Sproles, the Chargers would receive two first-round draft choices as compensation, according to the Chargers website.

He signed the $6,621,000 contract Tuesday. His pay is the average of what the top five running backs in the league are paid. Sproles made $1.1 million in base pay last year. There is also still a chance a long term contract can be worked out.
